About us

Consumer safety is our top priority.

We believe that every shopper deserves to be informed about any potential hazards associated with the products they purchase. That's why we're here - to provide you with the latest information on dangerous or faulty products.

We monitor Safety Gate: the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products, produced by the European Commission, for any recalls, safety alerts, or other important news related to consumer products. We provide this official information in a clear and concise manner, and we integrate it with additional information on chemical substances, so you can make better informed decisions about the products you buy and use.

Whether it's a home appliance, a child's toy, or a vehicle, we've got you covered. Our mission is to empower you to shop with confidence, knowing that you have access to the most up-to-date product safety information available. So take a look around and discover the peace of mind that comes with being an informed consumer. Let us help you stay safe and make smart purchasing decisions.

Who submits the alerts?

Every day, national authorities responsible for consumer safety send alerts to the European Commission's Safety Gate, the service that is monitoring non-food dangerous products all over Europe. Each alert contains information on the product, a description of the risk, and the measures voluntarily taken by the economic operator or ordered by the authority. The information contained in these alerts is what you will find on this website.

Alerts are submitted if the national authority finds a dangerous product in its national market. Once an alert is published on Safety Gate, all other national authorities must follow up: they must find if they have the same product in their market, take their own measures, and share the information on Safety Gate.

Can I submit an alert as a business?

Only producers, distributors, or authorized representatives of a specific product can submit notifications about their own product to a national authority, in accordance with their obligations under Article 5(3) of the General Product Safety Directive. Third parties cannot submit notifications. If you are a producer, distributor or representative of a product and want to submit an alert, you can follow this link.

Can I submit an alert as consumer?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit alerts as consumers. It is also not possible for companies to submit alerts about other companies' products. You can still contact the official agency or consumer protection organisation in your country for support.

How can I contribute as consumer?

Alerter gives you the opportunity to spot dangerous products that are still illegally for sale! You will find the opportunity to add a new sighting at the end of each product page. By doing so, you will warn other consumers that the dangerous product is still for sale in your country, and where you found it. You can also signal that you own the product, if you just found out that it is dangerous.

These alerts are called "consumer sightings". They have no legal implications but they help others like you to avoid risky and dangerous products.

In addition, if you spot a dangerous product or if you own one, you can:

  • contact the producer, distributor or authorized representative of the product . It's their obligation to report the product to the National Authority under Article 5(3) of the General Product Safety Directive.
  • evaluate the risks involved and make an informed decision, whether to buy it or not.
  • evaluate the risks involved and make an informed decision, whether to throw it away, or not.
